Your Voice is My Action

My Platform

BRET E. WIER FOR COLFAX COUNTY COMMISSIONER

I am a lifelong fiscal conservative and a strong advocate for personal liberty. I am a firm believer in the Constitution and its original intent. I stand strongly for the 2nd amendment, the right to life, term limits and States’ rights.

8 years ago, I joined Rotary. As a Rotarian I learned the gratification that comes from serving others. In my desire to serve others I have been a two term Rotary President, Cub Master, Basketball Coach, Watch Dog, Library Board member and have led several fund-raising events, raising over $100,000 for local charities.

7 years ago, I was elected to the Cimarron Municipal School Board. As a Board Member, I learned the operations of government. I was an officer for 6 of those years including 2 years as President.  I also obtain my Master School Board Member certification. With “Children First” as our mantra the Board has improved the district’s infrastructure, curriculum, finances, technology and the children’s education.

Economic development will be a primary focus for me. Being a business owner and having been part of 4 startup companies, I have extensive experience in what it takes to operate a business. Initially, I will work with local businesses to help them recover from the COVID-19 shutdown. I am currently working on 6 projects that will grow our economy. A growing economy is the best way to create the dollars needed to provide the services desired by our people.

The key to growing our economy is jobs. I will focus on increasing the number and quality of jobs in Colfax County. I am working on a project that could bring 100 “work from home” jobs to Colfax county. I will support the reopening of the lumber mill in Cimarron. I will work to create a system of revolving loans in our communities for local businesses.

The effective use of dollars is as important as generating new dollars. In the last 4 years as the Finance Director for Angel Fire, I dramatically improved the Villages finances. Just 5 months into my tenure I filed the first audit on time in about a decade and it was rated as unmodified. The Village increased its cash by 600% and reduced its debt by 30%. We also upgraded our technology making the village’s operations more accurate, efficient and transparent.

I will put in the time needed to assure that the constituents of District 3 are represented in the County and State. I will spend at least one day a month in each of the towns in District 3. I will attend one council meeting a month as well.  I will work to deploy better technology to make communications more effective. Like every job I have ever had, I will put in the time that is needed to be successful.

I will use my experience, knowledge and work ethic to serve the people of District 3. My motto is Your Voice is My Action and a vote for Bret Wier is a vote for service, growth, transparency and effective communication.
